Martselang - Shang

Trek towards Martselang Tokpo, walk through a narrow canyon, then climb gradually to Sumdo near the confluence of the Shang river and Martselang Tokpo. Cross the rivers for some time and reach the camp near the monastery at Shang (3'415m, 11'204ft). O/N camp.

Shang - Shang Phu

From Shang the trail is gradual but steeper up to the campsite amidst a meadow at Shang Phu (4'240m, 13910ft). O/N camp

Shang Phu - Shang-La - Gyangpoche

Follow the right side of the Shang river, ascend steeply through grassy slopes to reach the top of the Shang-La (4'950m, 16240ft). Enjoy the stunning view of Stok Kangri (6'153m, 20'187ft) and Parcha Kangri (5'250m, 17'224ft) to the West, and Matho Kangri (5'900m, 19'37ft) to the South-East. Descend towards Gyangpoche. O/N camp. 

Gyangpoche - Matho - Leh

Trek along the left side of the Matho Tokpo river. At Matho taxi or bus is available to drive back to Leh.
